George W. Brownridge II, DDS

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

Dr. George W. Brownridge II was born in Santa Cruz and raised in Vallejo, California, where his father had a dental practice. After graduating from high school, he enrolled for his undergraduate education at the University of the Pacific, graduating magna cum laude in 1971, with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry.

Following college graduation, Dr. Brownridge was accepted to the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, where he obtained his DDS degree in 1974. Upon completion of his dental education and successful completion of the California Dental Board examination, he joined the United States Air Force Dental Corp. He was enlisted in the service for three successive years, thereby initially completing a General Practice Dentistry Residency training program with an additional two-year service commitment. His military experience provided him with great exposure to all the dental specialties and is where he discovered his desire to pursue oral and maxillofacial surgery training. Therefore, after being honorably discharged in 1977, he moved to Los Angeles and attended the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency training program at the University of Southern California/Los Angeles County Medical Center. While in training, he was exposed to the full spectrum of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including but not limited to dentoalveolar surgery, maxillofacial trauma, oral pathology (diagnosis and treatment), facial jaw reconstructions, pre-prosthetic surgery, dental implants, and anesthesia management.

Upon completion of his residency training program, Dr. Brownridge accepted an academic appointment and remained in the USC/LA County Medical Center’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program as an associate professor and director of resident hospital surgical training for the next fifteen years. During this time, he also worked in several surgical practices in the Los Angeles area until 1986, when he established his own surgical practice in Laguna Niguel, Orange County, CA.

In the fall of 1994, Dr. Brownridge had the opportunity to return to his Northern California roots, when he purchased an oral and maxillofacial surgical practice in Chico, CA, and relocated to the North State. He provided continuous full-scope surgical services for the greater Chico community, until January 1, 2016, when he sold his private practice. Although he left his practice, he soon realized that he really enjoyed and missed providing his surgical talents to the public at large. Dr. Brownridge possesses a wealth of experience, knowledge, and expertise, and has always been known as a compassionate caring provider. Developing an excellent patient rapport with a clear understanding of relationships, and thoroughly addressing the patient’s concerns with clear explanations of the diagnosis and proposed treatment solutions, is a cornerstone of his practice philosophy.

Dr. Brownridge holds membership/fellowships in all the recognized national, regional, state, and local professional associations, and is a certified diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

In his spare time, Dr. Brownridge enjoys spending time with his family. He has been happily married for twenty-five years to his wife, Tanya, and they have two children: son, George III, twenty-one years old, and daughter, Britta, nineteen years old. As a family, they enjoy most outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, boating, skiing, cycling, traveling, and a variety of sports, both as participants and/or spectators.
